Many adults receive their vaccines at their physician’s office, at health fairs or not at all. As far back as 1985 pharmacists were utilizing nurses to come into the pharmacy to administer vaccines. It seemed to be more convenient than making a doctor’s appointment and going in at a specific time. Over time, the pharmacist has taken on more responsibilities that used to be done by a physician or nurse. Pharmacists’ council patients, teach patients how to use various durable medical goods and have increased interaction with the physician. This is a combination that benefits the doctor, the pharmacist and most importantly the patient.
